Meghan McCain Knows Nothing About Social Democracy or Democratic Socialism

About a couple of weeks ago, I was scrolling through my recommended feed on Youtube and came across a video entitled “Is Socialism dividing the Democratic Party?” I quickly glanced over at the thumbnail and saw it was The View. It showed Meghan’s face on it, I thought to myself “Oh boy, here we go.” I’ve heard and saw enough news from the right and some on the left on these terrible talking points concerning the ideology.

In a nutshell, Ms. McCain lost her mind after fellow co-host Sunny Hostin read aloud the platform to the ladies. Joy Behar in a rare moment of honesty calmly corrected McCain on the talking points of Venezuela. “I think she’s talking about the Scandinavian countries,” Joy said to McCain after McCain kept comparing socialism to Venezuela.

I think – no, I know Ms. McCain is very much ignorant on these terms and is uninformed about the very thing she claimed she’s against so I thought I would educate both her and Whoopi Goldberg about the different meanings behind these terms and why it is so important that you DEFINE your terms. McCain often brags about how she has more political experience than most of the ladies on the panel.

Here’s the thing: if you claim you have that much experience in this field, you should at the very least be able to explain and define those terms. Instead of doing that, McCain is seen visibly emotionally distraught over the mere thought of socialist policies being enacted to HELP Real Americans who are struggling (and often times ends up dead) to make ends meet.

We are the only country in the world that does not guarantee health care as a right for all Americans. We make up to 35 to 45 thousand dollars or less each year which means over HALF of the people in this country are poor.

Now, on to educating Whoopi and Meghan, who seem to misunderstand the world we live in.

Socialism in the context of the Marxist Theory is “a transitional social state between the overthrow of capitalism and the realization of communism.” That is not what we’re advocating for. What progressives are advocating for is economic equality. Meaning we believe that every man, woman, and child should have access to basic health care covered by the government via tax-payer dollars and cut out the for-profit middleman: the insurance companies. Meghan’s net worth is about 40 million dollars so of course, she’s against it.

We believe that the minimum wage should be a living wage. Right now, almost half of the people working do not make enough and sometimes pick up a third job in order to make ends meet which is immoral if you ask me. Wages have been staggering since the 1980s and haven’t kept up with productivity in this country, which is one of the major reasons why we’ve not seen an increase in our wages. However, the Democrats are weak and will not fight for the American people.

The Trump Administration has time and time again touted that unemployment is at its lowest point, but that doesn’t really give us a good indicator of the economy. If anything, it says the opposite of what’s happening in our country.

We believe in eliminating student debt all across this country. How many of these issues have Whoopi or Meghan covered on their show? Oh, that’s right, none, zero. Everything from their worldview is about the horse race aspects of politics, not the policy substance which tells me that they live in a bubble and have been out of touch with the needs of the working class in this country.

We’re for equal opportunity NOT equal outcome. In fact, most of our social policies are considered moderate. We know that other major developed nations around the world have one version or another of a Medicare for All system.

AND they are kicking our butts in every poll. Healthcare is a giant part of their success and has kicked our butts in being some of the happiest social states in the world. Our system sucks because we have to pay double per capita each year and high premiums and deductibles do not help us.

Democratic socialism is another term. Meghan McCain should learn to read more on before going on a national show and spouting things that aren’t of substantive or hold no roots in the facts.

Democratic socialism is a political philosophy that advocates political democracy alongside social ownership of the means of production with an emphasis on self-management and democratic management of economic institutions within a market socialist, participatory or decentralized planned economy.” You can also use this term interchangeably with Social Democracy. There are some who view democratic socialism as a means of overthrowing capitalism but then there are others who use this term to mean social democracy. I’m in that camp of social democracy.
