Considering the dearth of healthcare in America, we need to demand Medicare for All (M4A). While some organizations and people (Democrats and Republicans, mainly) do not, many do. Those organizations and individuals need to be commended for their stances in support of this life-saving policy.
The National Nurses United is a strong supporter of M4A. The organization assembled a team of economists who believe the time is now to create a universal, single-payer, Medicare for All health care system in the United States.
Margaret Flowers is someone who understands that state-based healthcare is fine but NOT M4A. She argues that comparing the Canadian provincial model that they used to create Canada Medicare does not apply to the United States due to the complexity of our healthcare system. Instead, she highlights how the many levels of healthcare in America make that model nearly impossible.
Even doctors are for M4A. As stated by Physicians for a National Health Program (PNHP), state-based ‘M4A’ relies heavily on federal subsidies. Instead, they support a true single-payer plan for the country.
When you consider how Modern Monetary Theory (MMT) allows us to focus on the actual economic impact, it is even more important to listen to what the economists say. Warren Mosler calculates that M4A is deflationary, which means we would need to reduce taxes. Real Progressives recognizes this and is at the forefront of explaining ‘how to pay for it.’

People are suffering and dying. Who wants that? Fed Govt can spend on M4A but it’s not happening because Congress, the Administration, those in power and with the money want to maintain what they have. That’s wrong. That’s awful. That’s disgusting. We have to #WiseUp and #PurgeCorruption so we can get what the people need and deserve. #M4A
