Bill begins by addressing a criticism of MMT that has confronted him since the 1990s: "it only applies to the large, closed economy of the US." He explains MMT’s relevance to his home country of Australia - a small, open economy - as well as to developing nations. Material conditions and availability of resources will differ, affecting the balance of imports vs exports, and their respective standards of living reflect these realities. Regardless, the insights afforded by MMT are just as legitimate.

Today we discuss actions with 2 organizers, Tess George and Sebastian Fuentes, who have brought community members together for weekly car protests at one of these detention centers.

Preventing Extremism in Fragile States: A New Approach

Final Report of the Task Force on Extremism in Fragile States, Tuesday, February 26, 2019. This Task Force was established in response to a request from the U.S. Congress in 2017. The Task Force claims it has developed a new strategy representing the "insightful and bipartisan foreign policy thinking of 15 leading former policy makers, legislators and other experts on how to empower fragile states to resist extremism on their own.

S.1727 - Partnership Fund for Peace Act of 2019

To establish the Partnership Fund for Peace to promote joint economic development and finance ventures between Palestinian entrepreneurs and companies and those in the United States and Israel to improve economic cooperation and people-to-people peacebuilding programs, and to further shared community building, peaceful coexistence, dialogue, and reconciliation between Israelis and Palestinians.
